What does the guaranteed blastocyst programme involve?
It is a heterologous fertilisation programme (egg donation and double donation) which consists of transferring cryopreserved embryos to the blastocyst stage, an advanced technique which leads to a higher probability of achieving a full-term pregnancy.
Our programme guarantees the generation of at least 2 blastocysts.
Blastocyst and transfer
When we speak of transfer to the blastocyst stage, we are referring to a particular phase of in vitro fertilisation.
Around the 5th or 6th day of development, as the embryo's cells continue to divide, it shows a clearly visible inner cell mass and an outer zone called the trophoblast, which will give rise to the foetal appendages such as the future placenta.
In prolonged culture at the blastocyst stage, the embryo acquires a mechanism which allows it to attach itself to the uterine endometrium and this is the moment when transfer using a single embryo is preferred. Blastocyst transfer increases the chances of achieving a full-term pregnancy
In which cases is it suitable?
The egg donation or double donation guaranteed blastocyst programme is suitable for:
-
women with low-quality gametes of their own with previous ovarian failure of unknown origin, previous unsuccessful IVF attempts, repeated miscarriages, etc.
-
women who no longer ovultate (undergoing menopause naturally or as a consequence of surgery, following cancer treatment, etc.);
-
women with a possible risk of transmitting hereditary diseases
-
men who do not produce sperm (azoospermic) or whose sperm present extreme abnormalities in their motility and quality
-
men with a possible risk of transmitting hereditary diseases, etc
Double donation is resorted to when at least one male pathology correlates with the female's pathological overview.
